Help & FAQs

Q What's the difference between "members" and "advertisers"
Members - Individuals who earn a percentage of what is paid by advertisers who email them via a secure email "gateway".
Advertisers - Normally companies who pay to email members through the "gateway".
You can register as both a member and advertiser.  You can even use the same email address for each account type but you may find it helpful to use a different one for each account type.

Q How does it work?
As a member you build a personal profile by taking very short, optional surveys.  The answers you give are stored as data in your member profile and can help advertisers determine which deals, offers and promotions you might be interested in receiving.  Advertisers pay to send you emails and you earn 25% of what is paid to send them in "credits".  Your credits mount up as you receive emails and are used to claim rewards from our rewards list which includes popular gift vouchers and even payment in cash by via PayPal, Cheque or bank transfer.

Q Will it cost me anything?
No, MailPay is free!  Members pay nothing.  Advertisers only pay to send emails.  How much advertisers pay depends on how many emails they send and how accurately they target them.  Better targeted emails increase in cost earning each recipient more.

Q Is there an age limit to join MailPay.co.uk?
No.  We do not have an upper or lower age limit as such.  MailPay members must have an email account and be competent enough to use a personal computer connected to the internet. We appreciate that some members may be young and have taken preventative steps to ensure that content is appropriate and in accordance with our terms and conditions of use.

Q How do I become a Member?
To become a member enter your email address in the member registration (green) box then click register.  When you have completed the registration process you will be able to login through the existing members login box.

Q How do I become an Advertiser?
To become an advertiser enter your email address in the advertiser registration (orange) box then click register.  When you've completed the registration process you will be able to login through the existing advertisers login box.

Q I have lost the invite sent by a friend and want to join as their buddy, what do i do?
Ask your friend to send you a fresh invite.  Once you receive the invite click to join as their buddy.  If you find the original invite it will not work and should be deleted.  Note!  If you join the site without clicking the link to become someone's buddy you will not be able to become their buddy later.

Q How does MailPay use my member information?
MailPay stores Primary and Secondary data about members.  Primary data includes sensitive information such as name, address, telephone number etc.  Secondary data is less sensitive data (answers to voluntary survey questions that each member chooses to supply).  Advertisers are not able to personally identify members, instead they use member data to select groups of members with specific things in common and who might be interested in the product or service being offered.  Content checked emails can be sent by advertisers to members via MailPay's email "gateway".  Members can reply to the email received with their contact details or click the optional link to visit the advertiser's own website.

Q How safe is any information I give you?
MailPay takes security seriously, we store any information you give us securely and provide you with access to it which means that you can change it, add more or delete it whenever you like.  We act as a "window" in which you can advertise information about yourself to companies who may wish to contact you based on the information you supply.  For further information about how we process personal data please read our privay policy.

Q Does MailPay send "SPAM" mails?
Emails sent to members via the MailPay system are not "SPAM".  The MailPay system is a tightly controlled method of electronic mail delivery which provides extremely accurate targeting of advertising messages to the most suited recipients.  We do not sell member's personal information to anyone including advertisers or allow anyone to contact members directly.  Advertisers can only contact members via the MailPay service (unless the member invites an advertiser to contact them directly).

Q If I join will I get bombarded with emails?
As the MailPay service grows the likely hood that you will receive more emails increases but the concept behind MailPay is that you receive more relevant information that will be of greater interest to you and which is more likely to be of benefit to you.  because you earn part of the fee advertisers pay to email you, the more emails you receive the more you earn.

Q Can advertisers contact me directly?
No.  Advertisers can not contact you directly through the MailPay system.  If you would like an advertisers to contact you directly each email contains a "Send Enquiry" link which lets you send a message and contact details to the sender.  *We would not recommend giving your address to anyone unless you are sure it is safe to do so.

Q What is a "credit"?
One credit is worth 1/100th of a penny (sterling). Paying you in credits allows us to round payments to within 1/100th of a penny which means you earn a more accurate payment for each email you receive.  Credits are used to claim items from our Rewards List which as well as a selection of popular gift vouchers also includes the option to claim cash either by cheque or paid direct to your bank account.

Q How much do I get paid for receiving an email "message"?
Each advertiser email you receive through MailPay earns you credits.  How many credits you earn depends on how much the advertiser pays to email you.  As more of your data is used to select you to receive an email, the cost to email you increases earning you more credits.  How many credits each email has earned you is displayed in the email's footer.  Credits are added to your credit balance with each advertiser email you are sent, you can view your current credit balance in the "control panel" screen.  The rewards you are able to claim with your credits are highlighted in our Rewards List with a green tick.

Q Can I stop emails being sent to me?
Yes.  You can stop receiving emails from us easily and at any time.  The Edit Details page includes a feature "Enable Mail" which removes your profile from all advertiser mail campaigns, it's instant and gives you total control.  A single click sets "Enable Mail" to either Yes or No, a green tick or red cross indicates if you are currently able to receive emails or not.

Q I'm not sure I want to supply so much information about myself
At MailPay we appreciate that your information is valuable and that by constantly giving it away to companies you are being deprived your right to both control and profit from it.  Data is worth money but many companies who rely upon you to provide them with information about yourself are not as quick to tell you what they intend to do with it. Our goal is to use the data that you are happy to volunteer safely, with your permission and in such a way that if it makes us money, it makes you money too.

Q This all sounds too good to be true?
Only a few years ago if you had been told that almost anyone could own a P.C. and that millions of them would be connected, and communicating  via an "information superhighway" at lightening fast speeds you may not have believed it.  "Facebook" would just have been a meaningless word not a site with over 600 million members worth over 50 billion dollars. All we've done is push "targeted marketing" in a slightly different direction by creating a way in which anyone can profit from what the world wide web is best at....sharing information.
